‘We still speak’… £10m Tottenham player says he’s still really good friends with Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho didn’t leave behind the best of legacies at Tottenham.

The Portuguese gaffer caused a lot of problems behind the scenes at Spurs, he failed to win any trophies before he was sacked, and he alienated a number of players within the squad such as Dele Alli and Danny Rose.

However, Mourinho did have his backers at Spurs, and one player has now shared that they’re still quite friendly with the gaffer.

Jose Mourinho still speaks to £10m Tottenham player

Speaking on the Gab and Juls Show, Ben Davies has been discussing his time with Mourinho, and he says that he still speaks to the former manager.

“I think he was very smart and he knew how he could get the team going. He knew with me that he didn’t need to hold back. He could be honest with me and I would do what was expected. I think that’s why he respected me. We had a good relationship and we still speak now because of it,” Davies said.

Say what you will about Mourinho at Tottenham, but when the Portuguese coach clicks with a player, they are often fiercely loyal to him.

Most of the players he worked with at Chelsea still absolutely adore him, as do his famous Inter Milan team.

Of course, he hasn’t been that successful recently at clubs such as Tottenham and Manchester United, but, by the sounds of it, he still has that ability to click with a player and make them believe in everything he says.

Davies is clearly a big Mourinho backer, and that’s reflected by the fact he still speaks to him to this day.

Don’t be shocked if Mourinho tries to re-sign the £10m man if he gets another managerial job in the near future.
