The new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hosted its first game on Sunday afternoon as Spurs’ under-18 side triumphed 3-1 over Southampton.

Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy were present to watch the young Tottenham team mark the opening of the stadium with a victory.

J’Neil Bennett will go down in history as the first ever goal scorer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Harvey White and Dilan Markanday getting the other goals.

At half-time, Pochettino headed out onto the pitch and he delivered a speech to Tottenham fans.

As reported by Sky Sports News, Pochettino said: “We all feel the same, so excited. I got the same feeling when we left White Hart Lane on the last day, we were crying and now in the first day in the new stadium we feel the same emotion. We need to cry because our dream became true”

Pochettino’s clear love for the North London club is evident with the words and emotions he uses when talking about the stadium.

Spurs play their first competitive game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 3rd, when they host Crystal Palace on a Wednesday night.

And Pochettino will be hoping that Tottenham can reverse their poor run of form and get their Champions League qualification project back on track.
