Harry Kane spoke to Viaplay Fotball after Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Brighton yesterday and has now answered if Spurs can challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Spurs have got off to an excellent start to the new season and picked up another important three points against the Seagulls last night.

Kane’s 22nd minute header proved to be the difference between the sides and it kept Antonio Conte’s men in third place – just behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Now, Kane has shared whether he thinks Spurs can actually challenge for the title this season.

Kane on Tottenham title challenge

Speaking to Viaplay Fotball, Kane was asked if he thinks Tottenham can realistically challenge for the league title this season.

“I think we have to have the ambition to go all the way and try to challenge for the title,” he said.

“We know it’s going to be really difficult, some really good teams and you have to be consistent over a really long period of time.

“Of course, we have a World Cup in between. We can’t think too far ahead, we’ve started the season well.

“We’ve got an important game in the Champions League in midweek and we’re just taking it game by game.”

Spurs fell to a disappointing 3-1 defeat in the north London derby last weekend but have bounced back well this week.

Conte’s men put in an improved display against Eintracht Frankfurt and were unlucky to have not taken all three points in the Champions League group stage game.

It was a big blow for Spurs to lose against Arsenal last weekend but they have already picked up 20 points from their opening nine games.

Spurs are yet to hit top gear this season but have found a way to grind out positive results. It’s certainly an encouraging sign that Conte’s men are sitting third in the table despite not reaching their best yet.
