‘We could all see’: Aaron Ramsdale now has his say on what Arteta did in Arsenal training last season
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has now had his say on what boss Mikel Arteta did in training last season in an interview with BBC Sport.
The most recent trailer from the Arsenal ‘All or Nothing’ Amazon documentary showed a clip of Arteta preparing his players for a trip to Anfield.
The Spaniard brought speakers onto the training pitches and played ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ while his players were training.
Arteta was clearly trying to imitate the incredible atmosphere his players would face at Anfield to give them an upper hand when heading into the fixture.
But his team went on to lose the game 4-0 and Ramsdale doesn’t think his manager will use this method again.
Ramsdale on what Arteta did in training
“I’ve never experienced the speakers before,” he said.
“I don’t think they’ll be coming back! We could all see what the method was.”
Arteta clearly had his reasons for replicating the Anfield atmosphere and admitted in the trailer that he had struggled to deal with it during his playing days.
The Spaniard is committed to giving his players any advantage he possibly can and was thinking outside the box last season.
But it had little effect as the team suffered a heavy defeat and that could be why Ramsdale doesn’t expect the Arsenal boss to repeat the method.
Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor branded Arteta’s training session ‘pathetic’ but it seems that Ramsdale can see what his boss was trying to achieve.
The first three episodes of the Arsenal documentary will be released today and it will be interesting to see if the Spaniard implemented any other unusual ideas last season.
