Liverpool forward Mo Salah has been speaking to the Egyptian media about his new contract, and hinted that while he wants to stay put, it’s not all up to him.

The Reds are yet to tie Salah down to fresh terms at Anfield and it’s a scenario which is threatening to overshadow what has been a brilliant season by the Liverpool star so far. Salah has been outstanding, with many believing he is now the best player in world football.

However, Liverpool need to break their wage structure to keep him. And speaking to local media, Salah has made his stance clear.

“I said it several times, if the decision is up to me, I want to stay in Liverpool. But the decision is in the hands of the management and they have to solve this issue. There is no problem but we have to reach an agreement for the contract,” Salah said. (quotes via The Express)

“Your financial value shows how much the club appreciates you and that they are ready to do anything for you to stay, but the decision itself is not based on those financial matters only.”

It is the first time that Salah has really divulged into any detail about a new contract. And naturally, Liverpool fans has been responding to the comments on Twitter.
