'We always knew': Mark Noble shares issue Moyes told him West Ham would have before the season even started
Noble retired at the end of last season and will be back at the club in the new year as the club’s Sporting Director.
He told TalkSPORT that Moyes knew integrating the new players at the club would be a challenge and said this season may be a bedding in period.
Noble shares Moyes conversation
He said: “I was away on holiday for the first three months of our season which was a lot of fun but the hour and a half we played it was back to anxiety and stress.
“To be honest with you, we had a lot of bad luck in the first few games, we didn’t take the chances we should have done. That grows on you and then we had some really good results at home.
“The league is so tight this year, incredibly tight. We always knew, when I spoke to the manager there was going to be a change of dynamics at the football club for this season.
“We knew we had to bring in probably eight players because of the players that left and myself as club captain. A lot of players with a big voice in the dressing room.
“We’ve recruited fantastically well but there will be a breaking in period we need to get through. That will be this season and then we get the players gelled together, a way of playing that we can start being where we want to be.”
West Ham had a tricky start to the Premier League season but have won every European game this term and are into the knockout rounds of the Europa Conference League.
That is an impressive record and as Noble said, the league is so tight this season that one win or one loss can drastically change the outlook.
West Ham did do significant transfer business and some of the players they have brought in could take the club to the next level once settled.
