Wayne Rooney was speaking on BBC One before Manchester United kicked off against Nottingham Forest – where he made a comment about Anthony Elanga.

The 38-year-old chatted to Gary Lineker and Jermaine Jenas about the Sweden international.

So, what did Wayne Rooney say about Anthony Elanga? Let’s take a look…

Wayne Rooney praises Anthony Elanga

Well, the Nottingham Forest No.21 was the topic of conversation ahead of tonight’s FA Cup clash at the City Ground, after being sold by Manchester United for £15m.

Elanga has since thrived for Nottingham Forest, scoring five goals while also providing seven assists in 25 Premier League appearances so far this season.

When praising the Swede, Rooney even claimed that Marcus Rashford could learn a thing or two from his old teammate.

After watching footage of Elanga shining for Nottingham Forest, Manchester United’s record goalscorer said: “That’s what we want to see from Marcus Rashford. He’s a danger.”

With the likes of Antony struggling on the wing under Erik ten Hag, and Jadon Sancho exiled, it is starting to look as if Manchester United made a mistake cashing in on the 21-year-old.

Lineker has even previously suggested that Manchester United were wrong to sell Elanga, when speaking to Micah Richards on The Rest Is Football podcast.

Do Manchester United have Anthony Elanga buyback clause?

As Elanga stars at the City Ground, many have wondered if Manchester United negotiated a buyback clause in the £15m sale.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, no such clause was inserted into the deal.

According to the Mirror, only a sell-on clause was agreed, meaning Manchester United will receive a cut of the money if Nottingham Forest ever sell Elanga.

If the Hyllie-born forward continues to play as well as he currently is, a big money move surely beckons at some point.
