Watford enjoyed a rollercoaster campaign last season, enjoying a fine start to their campaign but seeing things dip off in the latter stages.
Javi Gracia will be aiming for more consistent performances in 2018-19 and has landed some impressive new recruits in the form of Gerard Deulofeu, Adam Masina, Ken Sema, Ben Wilmot and Ben Foster, while major funds were raised from the sale of Richarlison to Watford.
The Hornets still have cash to play with in the market and players that should be culled from the squad, as we have identified the two pieces of business Watford should prioritise on Deadline Day.
Sign Paco Alcacer
Watford have already snatched one ace from the services of LaLiga champions Barcelona in the form of Gerard Deulofeu and there could be another arriving if the Hornets get their way – and it’s a signing that would provide a real buzz.
The Watford Observer states that Javi Gracia’s side are not interested in the services of striker Paco Alcacer but that view should be revisited if that is the case, as the 24-year-old would provide a huge boost to the club’s attack.
With six goals in 13 appearances for Spain, Alcacer is a top-tier striker who has struggled since moving to Catalonia but he would excel at Vicarage Road.
Sell Obbi Oulare
Signed in 2015 from Club Brugge, Obbi Oulare is a forgotten man at Watford after spending time on loan at Zulte Waregem, Willem II and Antwerp in the last two seasons. Still just 22, he has a future ahead of him but it seems to be away from Vicarage Road.
According to Sport Witness, Royal Antwerp are keen to sign Oulare on a permanent basis and add that the young striker is keen on securing a move away from the club – using the exact words ‘crazy’ to describe Oulare’s intentions.
Discussions are underway and the Belgian side have until the end of August to negotiate a deal, so a conclusion on Deadline Day is unlikely.
