Five ins and outs Watford could complete on Deadline Day

Watford have cash to spend and are ready for action.

Watford have been heavily involved in the market this summer with major acquisitions and sales, which will continue into Deadline Day.

The sale of Richarlison to Everton has provided the Hornets with plenty of cash to spend in the market and Javi Gracia is eyeing major additions before the market closes at 5pm this afternoon – and a departure could also be on the cards.

Here, we have identified five deals that the club could complete today.

Goncalo Guedes: Paris Saint-Germain

In a major coup that would fill the void from Richarlison’s departure, Watford are linked with a sensational swoop for Paris Saint-Germain winger Goncalo Guedes in a deal that could be worth a club-record fee.

French outlet CulturePSG states that Watford have made an offer just shy of the €60m mark for the Portugal international, who impressed last season on loan with Valencia – who are also keen on a deal and have until the end of August to reach an agreement.

The 21-year-old wants to return to Spain, whereas PSG are keen to sell to the highest bidder.

James Ward-Prowse: Southampton

Watford’s search for a new midfielder has seen the Hornets target a late move for Southampton’s set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse, who could be allowed to leave the south coast if the right price is offered in the market.

According to The Sun, Watford are keen on signing the 23-year-old in a £10m deal while Sky Sports states that any deal would be a loan – but add that Southampton do no want to approve a departure for their academy graduate.

Ward-Prowse made 30 Premier League appearances last season, scoring three goals and contributing three assists.

Roberto Pereyra to Torino

A deal that could rumble on for a number of weeks until the end of the European transfer window, Robert Pereyra has emerged as a target for Serie A side Torino – who are hoping to negotiate a deal with Watford before the start of the new season.

FootballItalia state that Torino are keen on bringing the former Juventus and Udinese man back to Italian football but will have to sell Daniele Baselli to raise funds, as Watford are demanding around €20m for the 27-year-old.

Pereyra featured 32 times in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals.

Thiago Maia: Lille

Watford’s hunt for midfield additions could now involve a move for Lille’s Thiago Maia as the French side are offering his services around due to their precarious financial situation – but there may not be time for a deal to be completed.

The Daily Mail states Watford have been offered the Olympic gold medal winner but will have to match his £17.5m asking price, which may put Javi Gracia’s side off as they have a number of alternatives to consider in the market.

21-year-old Maia was a regular at Lille last season but was played in a more unfamiliar advanced role.

Stefano Sturaro: Juventus

Stefano Sturaro is a player who has been linked with a number of Premier League sides this season and Watford have been linked with a late move for the experienced Juventus midfielder, who could join on loan.

The Sun states the Hornets are closing in on a deal to bring the 25-year-old Italy international to the Premier League for the 2018-19 campaign, with a view to make the switch permanent next summer.

Juventus value the midfielder at around £18m, which has already put the likes of West Ham and Leicester off a move.
