‘Waste of a substitute’: Arsenal fans tear into Henrikh Mkhitaryan after Huddersfield

Arsenal earned a narrow 1-0 win at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters ripped into attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan for his performance.

The Gunners jumped above of both Tottenham and Chelsea to temporarily move third in the league table ahead of both team’s round of fixtures this weekend.

Unai Emery’s side finally broke down a stubborn Huddersfield defence in the 82nd minute, as in-form midfielder Lucas Torreira scored a bicycle kick from close-range to win three points.

Arsenal weren’t at their sparkling best at the weekend and will be thrilled to get out of the match with maximum point secured, as they stay firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish.

A selection of supporters from the north London club decided to vent their frustration on social media towards Mkhitaryan, who they believe failed to make a serious impact off the bench.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder came on to the pitch for the second-half as a half-time substitute and was unable to stamp his authority in the final third with no serious goalscoring chances.

He is an intelligent playmaker that has been directly involved in five goals this season in 17 appearances, but is still trying to find his way in Emery’s system.

Here are a selection of Arsenal fan tweets on Mkhitaryan:
