Arsenal celebrated a comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle United today as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to goalscoring ways.

The Gunners star got himself in the scoring, adding a second after Mo Elneny had given Mikel Arteta’s men a deserved lead at St James.

Arsenal boss Arteta gave a number of players a run out with this week’s Europa League tie in mind. Elneny started, so did Dani Ceballos, while David Luiz came in only to go off injured, and Mat Ryan started in goal ahead of Bernd Leno.

And it was the performance of Ryan which caught the eye of some Arsenal fans, with Twitter full of comments praising the stopper.

While social media was predominantly in shut down for all major sportsmen, women, and teams, Arsenal fans still found it in themselves to praise the performance of Ryan on the social media platform.
