Nabil Bentaleb has admitted he’d ‘be a hypocrite’ if he said he didn’t still want to be at Tottenham Hotspur, as reported by The Independent.
The midfielder left the north Londoners in 2017 to join Schalke 04 in a permanent move, having spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Die Königsblauen.
Bentaleb left because he struggled to break into the starting XI. As opportunites passed him by, his attitude suffered as a result.

The Algerian international appears to have found his feet at the German outfit – this term he has 28 appearances and scored six goals.
Ironically, Bentaleb’s interview comes at a time where he might finally have established himself for Spurs.
Bentaleb could have enjoyed Winks/Sissoko-style emergence
Spurs have had a whole host of injury problems to contend with this season.

Victor Wanyama has struggled for most of the campaign.
Mousa Dembele sustained an ankle injury which ruled him out of action for a couple of months – the Belgian then departed in January.
Eric Dier had to have an operation to solve his appendicitis.

Those injuries paved the way for Harry Winks to estalish himself as a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino, and Moussa Sissoko has also undergone a position change.
Bentaleb may be faring well over in Germany but ironically, had he stayed, he might have been in Winks or Sissoko’s position right now – starting games week in week out.
