'Wants Everton as priority': Romano shares update on player Spurs reportedly want
Fabrizio Romano says Everton are confident of signing reported Spurs target Luis Diaz.
The Toffees and Tottenham have both been linked with the Colombia winger this summer.
According to Colombian outlet Antena2, Diaz is high on Spurs’ list of targets.
However, Everton now appear to have stolen a march on the Porto star.
On Friday morning, Romano claimed the Blues’ interest is “genuine and confirmed”.
Meanwhile, James Rodriguez is reportedly in talks to go the other way.
And on Saturday morning, Romano suggested that Everton are making good progress.
Romano hasn’t mentioned a fee for Diaz.
However, Mais Futebol claims he has a release clause worth €80million (around £69million).
Everton and Spurs eyeing Diaz – fact file
Diaz joined Porto from Colombian side Junior in 2019, and has scored 12 goals across two seasons in the Primeira Liga.
The 24-year-old finished as joint-top scorer at the 2021 Copa America alongside Lionel Messi, both scoring four goals.
Diaz was on target twice as Colombia beat Peru in the Copa America third-place match this summer.
A dynamic left-winger who stands 5ft 10in tall, Diaz excels at dribbling, passing, ball control and finishing.
He has hit the ground running this season as well, with two goals from three league games.
