Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Arsenal defender Pablo Mari.
The Gunners centre-back appears to be surplus to Mikel Arteta’s requirements at the Emirates.
The Arsenal boss can now call upon Gabriel Magalhaes, Ben White, William Saliba and Rob Holding.

And while Arteta views Mari as an ‘exceptional professional’, he’d struggle to give him game time now.
Therefore, Arsenal have been looking for a transfer solution regarding the £85,000-a-week ace.
Serie A duo Monza and Hellas Verona have reportedly been trying to sign Mari.
Now, Romano has claimed that Monza are “progressing in talks with Arsenal”.
Verona “have been trying to enter the race until the end”, but it looks as though Monza are frontrunners.
And while Arsenal are “waiting for player’s final decision”, it looks as though the Serie A newboys “want to get it donw soon”.
Mari joined Arsenal on loan from Flamengo in January 2020 before signing permanently in the summer.
However, the Spaniard has only made 22 senior appearances for the Gunners.
Mari is a solid player, but it looks as though there’s no room for him at the Emirates any more.
Therefore, a move away is very much the right solution for all parties.
