Walker-Peters' Boxing Day performance should convince Spurs to cool on Aarons
Tottenham are ready to battle RB Leipzig in a transfer tussle over Norwich City’s promising young right back Max Aarons, according to the Sun.
They report that Mauricio Pochettino has his eye on the 18-year-old, who has been so impressive this season for Daniel Farke’s promotion chasing side, and Spurs scouts are watching him every week.
He would reportedly cost £15m if he came to north London in January, but in the meantime, Kyle Walker-Peters was handed his first Premier League start of the season in the right back position against Bournemouth yesterday.
The young Englishman struggled when thrown in at the deep end against Barcelona in the Nou Camp earlier this month, giving the ball away to allow Ousmane Dembele to open the scoring, but recovered exceptionally well yesterday.
The young Englishman got three assists at Wembley against the Cherries and was part of a defence that kept a clean sheet in a 5-0 victory that took Pochettino’s side into second place in the Premier League.
With Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier already at the club, Aarons’ arrival would surely spell the end of Walker-Peters’ first team hopes at Tottenham, but his performance yesterday was so good that Pochettino should think again about spending serious money on Aarons.
