Wales fans rave about £10m Liverpool ace Williams, after 0-0 draw against Belgium
Wales produced a stunning performance to draw with Belgium on Tuesday night – and Welsh fans have raved about Liverpool star Neco Williams.
Coming into the match, Wales needed a point to fend off the competition of the Czech Republic to secure their place in World Cup qualifying.
However, they came up against Belgium – who had already qualified as group winners. A tricky game, then, for Rob Page’s in-form side.
But Wales produced a brilliant display of real togetherness and passion to secure a point. They went behind to Kevin De Bruyne, on 12 minutes.
The ball ricocheted to the Manchester City superstar on the edge of the area, and he swept an effort past Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward.
But Wales were level soon after, as perseverance from Leeds United speedster Dan James eventually found target man Kieffer Moore.
He prodded the ball home, and the scoreline remained the same until the final whistle. Williams came within an inch of winning the match late on.
What are Wales fans saying about Liverpool star Williams?
The £10million-rated (Athletic) right-back played on the left for Wales – and he cut inside before unleashing a powerful effort at Koen Casteels’ goal.
He was excellent throughout the night, proving a constant thorn in the Belgian side from the left – but also incredibly solid, defensively.
Wales fans applauded the Liverpool star on Twitter.
