Wales secured a crucial three points in their bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup with an excellent 1-0 win over the Czech Republic on Tuesday night at the Cardiff City Stadium – and Wales fans have raved about Liverpool star Neco Williams.
Williams, 19, lined-up as a left wing-back on Tuesday night as Rob Page’s side looked to nullify the Czech Republic with a back three – or a back five. They did just that, though they did ride their luck at times throughout the 90 minutes.
However, the game swung in Wales favour when Patrik Schick was shown a straight red card for lashing out at Connor Roberts. Roberts was then sent off himself on 77 minutes, receiving a second yellow card – but the impetus was with Wales.

Picking the ball up on the left, Gareth Bale swung a delightful cross into the box and Dan James headed home on 81 minutes. Williams lasted the entire 90 minutes as Wales saw out the 1-0 win, with Joe Rodon producing a wonderful injury-time block.
It was Williams’ ninth cap for Wales, as he continues to turn potential into proven talent – adding to 24 senior Liverpool appearances already. A proper talent, £25k-a-week (Spotrac) Williams has a real chance of becoming a Wales icon.
Many Wales fans applauded the Liverpool star’s efforts on Tuesday, as they secured a brilliant three points that sees them climb to third in a five-country group – having lost to Belgium in the first game. They are a point behind second, with a game in hand.
