On Friday, Spurs signed Cristian Romero – that much is certain.
But on what terms? Permanently, or on loan?
Multiple media reports have been claiming that Romero joined Tottenham on a permanent deal.

Sky Sports reported that Spurs have paid an initial £42million which could rise up to £47million.
Likewise, BBC Sport reported that Romero had joined Tottenham for “about £47million.
However, Tottenham’s announcement doesn’t specify what kind of deal, simply writing: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Cristian Romero from Atalanta.”
And the Serie A club writes: “Atalanta BC announce that the player Cristian Romero has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan, with an option to make the move permanent.”
Unsurprisingly, this has left some Spurs fans asking questions about the Romero deal on social media:
Some fans have been speculating that, given Romero transferred permanently from Juve to Atalanta, he can’t do so twice in the same window, hence an initial loan.
Either way, there’s still a discrepancy between most media reports and Atalanta’s announcement.
