3) David Wagner will have his work cut out
Two of Huddersfield’s key men in the final, as much as across the whole season, were goalkeeper Danny Ward and Aaron Mooy. Both players are on loan, from Liverpool and Manchester City respectively, and Wagner will have a job on his hands trying to retain both players on loan or permanently.
Whilst Huddersfield have deserved their promotion, with a goal difference of -2 and their only goal in the play-offs coming through an own goal, some power and quality are desperately needed up-front.
Reading may have been in a better position had they won, with greater financial backing likely, Huddersfield will still make a case next season and look to fight for survival, though they require some big summer transfer activity to make sure they can compete.
