Last week, with no buyers and no interest, Leeds United had to make a cut-throat decision regarding first-team utility player Vurnon Anita. The former Dutch international is not in Marcelo Bielsa’s thoughts and was therefore loaned out to Willem II last season. But this summer, nobody appeared ready to sign him from Leeds and the club were looking at being stuck with him
However, they released Anita before the close of the European transfer window. That allows him the chance to find a new club as a free agent in the coming weeks.
Indeed, earlier in the week, it appeared he may have found one. Reports in Israel were suggesting he was on the verge of joining Maccabi Haifa.

As reported by Walla Sports in Israel, the Green Locomotive were looking to add Anita to their Dutch collection, including former QPR attacker Tjaronn Chery and Wigan Athletic winger Yanic Wildschut.
However, it appears that is no longer the case. As reported by Sport 1 Maariv, the club have stated that Anita is ‘not in coach Marco (Balbul’s) attention’.
Haifa are instead looking to fill their final foreign player spot with Cameroonian talent Jeando Fuchs of Deportivo Alaves, according to MARCA.
Anita, it seems, may have to wait a little longer before finding a new club. Whilst he never managed to establish himself at Elland Road, no Leeds fan would begrudge him future success away from West Yorkshire.
