One-time Leeds United misfit Vurnon Anita was reportedly offered to Roma recently.
Leeds snapped up former Dutch international Anita from Newcastle United on a free transfer back in 2017.
Unfortunately, the 30-year-old struggled to have an imposing impact at Leeds, often used in numerous different positions with less than positive results.
Last season he was loaned out to Willem II after Marcelo Bielsa decided he was not a part of his first-team plans. This summer, he was again told to find a new club but no buyer was found and Anita eventually had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
He has since been training with Ajax but the Leeds United misfit was reportedly an option for the Italian giants in recent days.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, and relayed by Voetbal Primeur, the ex-Leeds man was offered to the Giallorossi as a potential free agent solution to the club’s midfield injury troubles.
His agent is Mino Raiola and the Italian will have no doubt played a role in this development.
However, Roma are instead looking at Luxembourg international Marcel Buchel and former England international Jack Rodwell as potential reinforcements.
Anita’s hunt for a new club appears to rumble on and there would have been plenty of raised eyebrows in West Yorkshire had he ended up at Roma this month.
