Former Leeds United utility player Vurnon Anita says he is remaining calm about finding a new club, following his Elland Road release earlier this season.
Leeds snapped up former Dutch international Anita from Newcastle United on a free transfer back in 2017.
Unfortunately, the 30-year-old struggled to have an imposing impact at Leeds, often used in numerous different positions with less than positive results.
When Marcelo Bielsa arrived, he was quickly deemed surplus to requirements and shipped out on loan to Willem II. With Leeds unable to find a buyer this summer, Anita was granted his release at the start of September.
Speaking to Fox Sports, he made it clear he is currently enjoying training with Ajax’s youth team and is waiting for the right opportunity to come along regarding his next move.
“I will let it come my way and then think about what is best for me. Whether that is the Netherlands or abroad.
“The most important thing is that I am completely fit and enjoy playing football.”
Anita looked a solid addition from Victor Orta back in 2017 so it is something of a mystery why he never found his best form at the club.
The lack of a settled position and managerial changes did not help his cause and it is a shame, considering his previous pedigree.
Hopefully, a club will take notice of the qualities a freebie like Anita can offer and give him a contract in the weeks to come.
