In his 21st year in the Arsenal dugout, Arsene Wenger has rarely cut such a dejected and isolated figure. With his team humiliated by Bayern Munich with a third consecutive 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in Champions League competition and banners calling for his departure, it seems that the 67-year-old may have a decision to make.
Wenger’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and neither the manager nor the club have committed to the future, though the Frenchman has insisted that he will not retire and will continue in management whether that is in north London or elsewhere next season.
With a growing appetite for change at the Emirates, it could see a remarkable change if the Gunners welcome a new manager to be the second man to sit in the Arsenal dugout at the stadium that they moved into in 2006.
