Virgil van Dijk has praised Liverpool summer signing Calvin Ramsay, who is still waiting to make his debut.

Ramsay came in from Aberdeen to replace Neco Williams, who joined Nottingham Forest after their Premier League promotion.

Ramsay was on the bench for the first time this season on Tuesday night when Rangers were defeated 2-0 at Anfield – but did not get on.

As per Yahoo, van Dijk expects Ramsay to come good and says he can only benefit from learning from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk on Ramsay

Van Dijk said of Ramsay: “I have seen him more outside of the training pitch than on the training pitch.

“But so far what I have known of him is that he is a good boy.

“He wants to work, he is learning each and every day from one of the best right backs in the country. He learns how we want to play, what we expect from a right back in our way of playing.

“He needs time, but his time will come. I am not worried that. But he has been very positive towards everyone.”

Ramsay has struggled with a back problem since arriving at Anfield which is one reason he has not made his debut yet.

Another is that Liverpool have been struggling and perhaps it has not been the time to bring in a 19-year-old new signing at present.

Ramsay will struggle to dislodge Alexander-Arnold and get gametime at Liverpool – that ended up being a problem for Williams – but he can learn from him and will hope to get matches in the cups or when the England international needs a rest.
