Liverpool are through to the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup after a stunning fixture against Arsenal at Anfield.
An incredible 10-goal thriller went to penalties after Divock Origi’s falling overheard kick had levelled the game at 5-5 in normal time.
It was a sensational game which, with the absence of several first-team regulars, saw Liverpool extremely fragile at the back.
One of those absentees was the best defender in the world Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman was given the night off with youngsters Sepp van den Berg and Joe Gomez entrusted at the heart of defence.
Behind them, in goal, was a young Irishman. Caoimhin Kelleher was making his Anfield debut and it is undoubtedly one he will never forget.
Whilst conceding five goals will not be favourable, he did get to play the hero in the penalty shootout. The 20-year-old made an incredible save from Spanish international Dani Ceballos and after the game, Van Dijk made sure to highlight the youngster’s efforts on Twitter.

Liverpool made a big call in giving the young stopper his chance. With the likes of experienced duo Adrian and Andy Lonergan on the books it was a bold move from Jurgen Klopp which deserves plenty of credit.
Now, Kelleher will always have an incredible Anfield moment to remember regardless of his career path. Hopefully, it can be a long one on Merseyside.
