Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has heaped praise on Darwin Nunez following his fantastic performance against West Ham United last night.
The Uruguayan joined the Reds for a club-record £85 million from Benfica in the summer (Sky Sports). A lot was expected of him, but he struggled early on. However, he looks like he’s on the right track now.

Virgil van Dijk praises Liverpool teammate Darwin Nunez
Nunez started up top for Liverpool against West Ham last night and he was sensational.
The 23-year-old scored the only goal of the game to help his side pick up a very important win, but he could easily have scored one or two more in the first half.
Nunez has come under a lot of criticism since his move to Anfield, but he deserves immense credit for the way he has been performing over the last few weeks.
Van Dijk definitely seems impressed, and he hailed his young teammate after the game yesterday.
The Dutchman said, as per BBC Sport: “He has so much potential.
“He is still young and he’s learning, he’s learning the way to play and learning English. He is a modern-day striker which causes a lot of defenders problems.
“You could see today his runs in behind and his build-up play getting better. We have different weapons to try and exploit opponents, it is good.”

TBR View:
Nunez really has come to life over the last few weeks.
The Uruguayan was absolutely brilliant against Arsenal in Liverpool’s defeat at the Emirates earlier this month. He has carried that form forward and his performance last night against the Hammers was arguably his best in a Liverpool shirt.
Van Dijk is right, Nunez’s potential is massive. He’s still only 23 and if he can keep improving, he can easily become one of the best strikers in the Premier League in a few years’ time.
Liverpool take on Nottingham Forest this weekend and it will be interesting to see if Nunez will get the nod from the start again.
