- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Ever since he left Coventry City for Sporting CP in 2023, Viktor Gyokeres has been consistently linked with Arsenal and Chelsea as a result of his remarkable scoring.
Scouts at Arsenal and Chelsea will have watched on as Gyokeres tore apart Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win.
The 26-year-old Swedish striker took his tally to 23 goals for the season, a feat he’s achieved in just 17 games.
Gyokeres’ scoring over the past three seasons has been remarkable, explaining why he’s arguably the hottest striker in Europe right now.

That being said, TBR Football has been informed that Gyokeres is in no hurry to pick his next club after Sporting, but it is increasingly likely that he will return to England.
Sporting willing to accept bid lower than Viktor Gyokeres’ release clause
Following his latest dominant showing on Europe’s biggest stage, Gyokeres knows that interest is mounting in him from the Premier League, but also Europe’s top clubs.
The striker specifically chose Sporting last summer as he believed it was his next best option after leaving Coventry.

The initial plan was for Gyokeres to move to the Serie A next before moving back to England.
But such has been the form of the Sweden international, he is now on a path to join a Premier League side in 2025.
Of course, Gyokeres was with Brighton until 2021, but he wasn’t given a chance under Graham Potter.
Interestingly, the striker’s departure was overseen by Dan Ashworth, now at Manchester United, who are one of the clubs watching the Swede.
PSG and Juventus hoping to tempt Gyokeres away from England return
As TBR previously revealed, Gyokeres is in the sights of Arsenal and Chelsea, whilst Liverpool and Newcastle have also watched him regularly.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also been on the striker’s trail, but sources close to the player firmly believe that he is almost certain to return to England in 2025.
Gyokeres has a release clause of around €100m (£83m) but it is believed Sporting will accept a deal of closer to £70m next summer.
Speaking after Gyokeres’ hat-trick against Man City, new United manager Ruben Amorim refused to encourage links between the striker and his new club, out of his respect for Sporting.
Amorim said: “I’ve just made peace with them [Sporting], I’m not even going to joke about it.
“Viktor is a Sporting player, Sporting is a great club, they did a lot for him and he has to stay and finish the season.”
