Back in 2019, Tottenham Hotspur signed Jack Clarke to considerable fanfare.
The young winger had been impressive for Leeds United and joined Spurs as an exciting prospect for the future.
However, things simply didn’t go to plan for Clarke at Tottenham.

His loan spell back at Leeds saw him barely get any game time, prompting Jose Mourinho to recall him.
Clarke would finish the 2019-20 season at QPR, with only a handful of appearances during a loan spell there.
The 21-year-old stayed at Spurs in the first half of the 2020-21 campaign, but he never really kicked on.
Another loan move to Stoke in the second half campaign followed before another temporary spell last season at Sunderland.
The Black Cats stint proved successful as he helped get them back in the Championship.
Unsurprisingly, the Wearside club opted to buy him, with Spurs happy to sell.
While Clarke’s Tottenham spell didn’t work out, he’s doing well with Sunderland.
He has registered an impressive four goals and four assists from 15 Championship outings.
One of those goals, in the 3-0 win over Reading on 14 September, has seen him win the Goal of the Month award.

As per The Athletic, ‘Sunderland went from back to front inside 18 slick seconds that brought just 12 touches.
‘Eight players had a contribution before Clarke finished in a style befitting all that had gone before.’
Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray called it “a brilliant move”, while Sky Sports commentator Don Goodman said it was “absolute perfection”.
While it’s a shame things didn’t work out for Clarke at Spurs, it’s great to see him enjoying his football and winning accolades elsewhere.
