Video: Harry Kane left applauding after what 18-year-old Tottenham prospect did in training yesterday
A finish by Tottenham teenager Dane Scarlett left Harry Kane applauding in training before the clash with Leicester.
Spurs had a clear week of training ahead of the game with the Foxes, but Brendan Rodgers’ men were in Europa Conference League action.
They drew 1-1 with Roma, managed by former Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, who also worked with Rodgers during their time together at Chelsea.
Kane has not scored in his past five Premier League games, but he will be crucial in the weeks ahead for Spurs, and will start scoring soon.
Kane is the undisputed first choice striker, as the talisman and the man who has such a devastating partnership with Heung-min Son.
But a reliable plan B is needed for Antonio Conte, with previous Spurs managers unable to solve that problem.
18-year-old Scarlett needs to impress in training when he gets his opportunity in front of the manager, and keep improving in order to be that man.
It seems he did that yesterday, based on a video that Tottenham’s official Twitter account posted.
Around two and a half minutes into the training video, Scarlett puts a chance into the net, drawing applause from his senior teammate.
Kane is the perfect man for Scarlett to learn from and there are plenty of goals scored in the video where Kane makes finishing look so easy.
Scarlett can pick up on the focus and determination of Kane, who has transformed himself into one of the world’s best strikers with that approach.
You would not back against Kane getting back on the scoresheet against Leicester, while Scarlett may need to wait for next season for more opportunities.
