Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has the chance to break back into the starting XI indefinitely with a good performance against Watford in the Carabao Cup.
The Kenya international has had to contend with a place on the bench this season, and has played just seven minutes of Premier League football so far.

It would appear that Mauricio Pochettino is very fond of the Eric Dier-Mousa Dembele pairing in midfield.
The season started brightly for Spurs, but in recent weeks the cracks have started to show.
And Dier in particular has come in for some criticism.
The England international stands accused by some of being sloppy in possession, and being ineffectual when chasing a game.

It could therefore be a real chance for Wanyama against Watford.
Wanyama offers more than Dier
Wanyama is a midfield dynamo who has more about him than Dier does.
Dier may be the more versatile, but Wanyama is an excellent ball-winner. He is full of energy and great at pressing opposing players.
He has had his injury problems lately, but he and Dembele were a force to be reckoned with a couple of seasons ago.
With Dier having come into some poor form recently, the game against Watford is huge for the former Southampton enforcer.

He needs a big performance to force Pochettino to reinstate him as Dembele’s midfield partner.
With Dembele having been linked with a move to Juventus, he may be the man that eventually takes over his mantle.
It is therefore important for him to get back playing again – starting with minutes at Stadium MK.
