Victor Orta could be Leeds United’s secret weapon in any move for Adama Traore

Leeds United are reportedly keeping tabs on a potential move for Wolves star Adama Traore.

90min is reporting that Wolves would want around £40 million for Traore, who has struggled to cement a regular starting spot at Molineux this season, and that Leeds United are keen on making a move.

Which should not come as a surprise.

Leeds director of football Victor Orta is the man who brought Traore to English football during his time as recruitment chief at Middlesbrough.

Orta was clearly proud of the deal that brought Traore from Barcelona.

Speaking to The Scouting Hub in June, the Spaniard spoke with pride of his transfer activity on Teesside. Traore was one of those impressive recruits.

“I think we made a lot of good things in Middlesbrough, and you talk about two players now, like Marten De Roon: near to being in the quarter-final of the Champions League, it’s all happening.

“Adama Traoré can be the most exciting prospect now in Spain. And not only this, even a lot of players that can have a real impact on the team, I feel really proud of my work in Middlesbrough because I was honest and I was trying to improve the club.”

Leeds’ director will therefore undoubtedly be sniffing around if Traore is indeed available in January.

The reports suggest the Spanish winger is tired of his impact role at Wolves and is struggling to find a new deal at Molineux.

Leeds, however, are unlikely to be alone considering Traore’s impressive reputation across Europe. But Orta’s presence might give Leeds an advantage in any pursuit of Traore this January.
