Victor Orta has been expressing his views for the summer and the Leeds United sporting director admitted a potential summer transfer is already in the advanced stages.
The Spaniard was speaking to Radio MARCA yesterday, confirming that Jack Harrison will be remaining a Leeds player on a further season-long loan deal next season.
He was then asked what his plans were for the summer regarding the current Leeds United squad.
Orta confirmed that there are already ‘advanced’ talks over one potential transfer, before explaining how he does not want to repeat the mistakes he made at Middlesbrough when the Teessiders were promoted to the Premier League.
“There is something advanced already. But I have analyzed a mistake I made in Middlesbrough, and I want to continue with this template. Add pieces that improve what is already there, which obviously needs to be done, but I want to keep the core of the team, which deserved it.”
It is not clear who the player in question is.
Leeds United fans will be hoping it is a deal for Brighton loanee Ben White, although that seems unlikely considering the Seagulls are hoping to use the talented centre-back next season. It might also be plausible that the deal in question is the permanent acquisition of goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

It might be a move for Jean-Kevin Augustin, whilst Leeds have also been linked with the likes of Yan Couto, Robin Koch, and Patrick Erras among many others in recent weeks.
But it is great to hear that Leeds are willing to give this current core a chance to shine next season, with the odd improvement here and there.
At Boro, Orta brought in some impressive looking players such as Adama Traore, Marten de Roon, and Alvaro Negredo. But it could be argued they over-committed to new signings, with the likes of Viktor Fischer, Victor Valdes, Brad Guzan, and Fabio also arriving.
At Leeds, it would seem less is more, and that the club will be willing to have faith in the players that have helped them return to the Premier League.
Looking at Sheffield United this season, it could prove the better option. With a few tweaks here and there, Leeds could establish themselves back in the Premier League.
