Victor Anichebe has told Kemar Roofe on Instagram that he should be at Leeds

Kemar Roofe celebrated on Instagram Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League on Friday, with Victor Anichebe claiming that he should still be at Elland Road.

After West Brom’s defeat to Huddersfield Town, it meant that Marcelo Bielsa’s team were mathematically promoted from the Championship and they need just one more point to clinch the title.

The Yorkshire giants will finally have Premier League action again next season after going 16 years without and they have managed to escape the Championship by playing an attractive brand of football.

Anderlecht forward Roofe, who spent three years as a Leeds player before his exit in 2019, shared his joy with his former club’s success.

“I got goosebumps when I heard the words Leeds are back. Incredible from the boys this season! And it’s about time the fans get to intimate the Premier again,” Roofe said.

Former Premier League and Everton striker Anichebe responded by claiming that Roofe “should be there” with Leeds.

TBR View – Leeds should try tempt Roofe into return

Leeds sold Roofe last summer to Belgian club Anderlecht for £7million (Mail), but should definitely consider bringing him back ahead of next season.

The 27-year-old striker has suffered with injuries during his debut campaign with Anderlecht, but still managed seven goals and three assists in just 16 appearances.

He’s a quality forward with an incredible work-rate that knows the Bielsa system, so recruiting him would help improve the squad ahead of preparations for the Premier League.

Leeds could also take some confidence from the fact that Roofe refused to completely rule out a return to the club at some point in the future.

“If the opportunity was right, I’d never say no,” he told FourFourTwo.
