Viborg thank Tottenham for allowing Brandon Austin loan extension

Danish side Viborg have shared their appreciation to Tottenham Hotspur for allowing goalkeeper Brandon Austin to remain at the club until the end of the Danish NordicBet Liga campaign.

Austin signed a new contract at Tottenham in December, keeping him at the club until 2022 and the 21-year-old had been training with the first-team prior to his loan switch to the Greens.

Viborg were trying to claw their way back into title, and promotion, contention ahead of Velje before the global health crisis forced a lockdown of Danish football.

But despite Austin’s loan spell being due to expire, Tottenham agreed to extend his spell at the club, and Austin is now back in between the sticks for the Danish side.

As reported by TipsBladet, Viborg have thanked Tottenham for allowing Austin to remain at the club until their promotion push comes to an end, one way or another.

“We are of course pleased that we have reached an agreement relatively quickly and that Tottenham has shown great understanding of the situation. Brandon has got off to a great start in the club and we are very pleased that we also have him for all the games that await the rest of the season.”

It appears Tottenham are set to take this stance with all their loanees, as it seems both Kyle Walker-Peters and Danny Rose will be allowed to continue their season’s to completion at Southampton and Newcastle United respectively.

As for Austin, he has only recently been handed a new deal by Tottenham and there is clearly hope the England under-21 call-up can progress into a top goalkeeping option during his time at Spurs.

Hopefully, his stint at Viborg can help him grow into the player Spurs clearly hope he will.
