'Very, very special': John Hartson blown away by Celtic star

John Hartson has told BT Sport (broadcast on 19/10; 17:20) that the goal Kyogo Furuhashi scored for Celtic in their win over Ferencvaros in the Europa League was unbelievable, and labelled the forward a special player.

The Hoops have their first points in the group-stages after a 2-0 victory at Parkhead on Tuesday.

The win could have been a lot more comfortable. Callum McGregor had a penalty saved. And Ange Postecoglou’s men were denied several more times over the course of the afternoon.

The deadlock was ultimately broken in the 57th minute. Jota played an outrageous pass through to Kyogo, who was breaking into the final third.

And he made the most of the touch, sliding the ball past the goalkeeper at his near post.

And Hartson claimed that Kyogo proved himself to be one of the best around with his goal in the win.

“Kyogo’s goal is extraordinary. Unbelievable, it tells me he’s a top, top-drawer centre-forward,” he told BT Sport. “His touch, the pass from Jota, and to see the finish, to take it first time in the goalkeeper’s near post, it’s a wonder goal. And that is a very, very special player.”

Celtic fans will not be surprised at all by Jota assist and Kyogo goal

It probably says a lot about Jota and Kyogo that neither player’s contribution to that goal will have come as a surprise to the Celtic supporters.

The pair have proved to be absolutely outstanding signings. Jota is contributing assists for fun.

Kyogo meanwhile, is just sensational when it comes to producing a first touch.

At times, it has been suggested that his finishing could do with some work. But it was a sublime effort on Tuesday.

And with his ability and composure on the ball, he is certainly going to ensure that he gets the chances to keep working on that lethal touch in front of goal.
