A player heavily linked with Neil Lennon’s Celtic has made a big impression with his teammate, who thinks the reported Hoops target looks like a “very, very good player”.
Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull was strongly linked with a £3million switch to Celtic Park and looked to be bound for Parkhead until an injury was uncovered in August.
After six months of rehabilitation following surgery, the 20-year-old took a major step towards his return as Motherwell welcomed St Mirren to Fir Park on 25 February.
Turnbull played for 19 minutes as Motherwell fell to a 2-1 defeat and manager Stephen Robinson told the Daily Record of how the player will slowly be eased back into regular action.

Motherwell on-loan winger Rolando Aarons is already looking forward at the prospect of providing ammunition for a box-to-box midfielder who scored 16 goals in all competitions last term.
“David Turnbull was injured when I first arrived but from what I’ve seen at training he looks like a very, very good player,” Aarons told the Motherwell Times. “I’m looking forward to playing with him.”
TBR View:
Turnbull’s first full senior campaign ended with 16 goals and seven assists in 34 games and saw him crowned the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year, so it’s little surprise that Celtic made a move for him.
In the end, the transfer didn’t take place last summer due to the unfortunate circumstances, but Turnbull has managed to recover from the knee issue and return to action, his focus now on getting back up to full fitness and once again impressing in the Scottish Premiership.
Could Celtic go on to make another move for Turnbull in future? After all,the player himself admitted to Motherwell’s YouTube channel that the failed move was hard to take, so from his side, he could potentially still be interested – who knows that the future holds.
