Everton fans have been left very impressed by Nathan Broadhead’s display in their pre-season friendly last night.

Catching the eye

Broadhead has been offered a chance by Rafael Benitez as Everton gear up to the new campaign.

The 23-year-old has only experienced regular first-team football on a loan spell with Burton Albion.

He is now reaching an age where he needs to get regular action too, rather than just stagnate playing for Everton’s development sides.

But Broadhead certainly did his chances of playing more regularly at Goodison Park last night.

The youngster came on as a substitute as Everton beat Millonarios on penalties and looked lively when he was introduced.

Broadhead is likely to need to put in plenty more displays of this standard if he is to force his way in at Everton.

He may not have been one of the Everton prospects who was tipped off to be a superstar of the future when Benitez took charge.

But the Spanish boss does seem to be keen to give the winger an opportunity, and he has snatched it with both hands so far.
