'Very painful': Jurgen Klopp offers update on Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita

Liverpool fans looking for the latest Naby Keita injury news have been given a brief update from their manager, Jurgen Klopp, this evening.

The Reds smashed Manchester United in their own back yard to run out 5-0 winners and cement a famous win in the history books. Mo Salah once again took the plaudits thanks to a superb hat-trick, while goals from Jota and Keita both helped Liverpool on their way.

However, Liverpool fans have been wondering what the injury news is when it comes to Naby Keita. The Guinea midfielder was scythed down by Paul Pogba, who was duly shown a red-card. Keita, ultimately, left the field on a stretch.

And speaking after the game, Klopp confirmed it looks like a painful one for his midfielder.

“We have to see how serious it is. Very painful. We will know more tomorrow or the day after. Naby is in a great moment. He’s an outstanding player,” Klopp said of his midfield star.

Keita has started to show glimpses in recent weeks of the form which saw the Reds spend a fortune on him in the first place. His performance today was excellent, and an injury now could be a cruel blow.

That’s how it feels, anyway. The Reds didn’t sign any midfielders in the summer but in Keita, it feels like they have.

He was brilliant today and is growing into things game by game it seems.

Goals and assists are all well and good. But his work off the ball is excellent too, and he seems to have built up an understanding with Mo Salah.

It would, then, be a great shame for Keita to miss a period of time through injury. Especially because of what was a rash challenge from United’s Pogba.
