Glasgow Rangers icon Neil McCann has waxed lyrical about Ibrox duo Ryan Jack and Glan Kamara for their impressive displays in the Europa League last night.
Steven Gerrard’s charges got their European campaign off to a great start with a 2-0 win at Standard Liege, courtesy of a 19th-minute James Tavernier penalty and a late Kemar Roofe stunner.
Once again, the Rangers midfield was in superb form, with Jack putting in a very strong showing on his return to the starting XI and Kamara delivering another great performance.
The £12,000-a-week Scot distributed well from the base of the midfield and drove forward to help create opportunities, while the £6,200-a-week Finn covered Calvin Bassey well on the left and was progressive with the ball.
“I’ve been very impressed with Jack and Kamara,” McCann told BBC Sport (22/10, 19:43). “They’ve covered the full-backs well and have dealt with anything that’s come their way.”
Rangers are a completely different proposition from last term, looking stronger throughout the pitch with players looking much-improved.
Admittedly, Jack hadn’t been at his best this season but was superb last night, while his 24-year-old teammate has looked consistently outstanding.
Things have got off to a flyer in the blue half of Glasgow and it’s certainly shaping up to be a great season.
