'I've been impressed': Mikel Arteta thinks Arsenal have signed a brilliant player
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has raved about Ben White to Football London ahead of this weekend’s game against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.
The Gunners take on the in-form Seagulls in Saturday’s late kick-off with Arsenal looking to make it four straight wins.
White swapped Brighton for Arsenal in a £50 million summer transfer. He is developing a strong rapport with Gabriel and boasts bags of potential.
The 23-year-old has made four appearances for his new club and is growing as an Arsenal player.
He suffered a torrid debut against Brentford but his form lately has proved that to be nothing more than a bad game.
Arteta has been impressed with his purchase from the summer window and praised the youngster ahead of Saturday.
He told Football London: “Well, I’ve been very impressed with how he handles the pressure, how he handles the situation of coming through the Euros, the big fee, the composure and the calmness that he shows. We all really enjoy him at the club and we have to continue like that.”
White will hope to get one over on his former club this weekend. Although, he is likely to get a warm reception from the Brighton fan base.
He was worshipped there last season and produced the goods on a regular basis for the Seagulls.
White could become Arsenal star
After plunging £50 million on him, the Gunners will hope that White can become a really big player at the club.
He does have all the attributes. He holds his position well, is comfortable at playing out from the back and boasts sound defensive skills.
White could do with improving in the air but Takehiro Tomiyasu has helped with that aspect in recent weeks.
Arsenal have had some tremendous central defenders over the years. White will hope to add his name to the very best in the coming years.
