Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has provided an exciting update on new signing Luis Sinisterra to Leeds Live, ahead of the start of their Premier League campaign.

Sinisterra was brought in to Elland Road from Feyenoord after a fantastic campaign with the Dutch club.

However, the £21m signing limped off during Leeds’ pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace in Perth with a hamstring injury.

In his first pre-match press conference of the season, Marsch provided an encouraging update on the Colombian, singling him out for praise after training today: “Luis (was) on the pitch today looking very good.

With regards to his injury, Marsch added: “(He’s) getting closer to top speed. Hopefully (he’ll be) in full training next week”.

The news that Sinisterra’s hamstring issue isn’t too serious will be music to Leeds fans ears.

The Colombian international is one of the players expected to pick up where Raphinha left off after his move to Barcelona.

That burden will also fall on new signing Brenden Aaronson, but Leeds also want another striker to support Patrick Bamford.

The 23-year-old certainly has the ability to do it, scoring 23 goals and contributing 14 assists across all competitions last season.

Marsch is clearly very excited about getting Sinisterra involved in the first team, and Elland Road hopefully won’t have to wait too long for his introduction.

Leeds are also looking at bringing in some further competition for Sinisterra, with Marsch keeping tabs on Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet.
