Pierluigi Gollini has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that Nuno was ‘very good’ at half-time.

Impressing chat

Tottenham went into the break behind against Chelsea after being largely dominated in the first-half.

Spurs were lucky to only be 1-0 down after 45 minutes, with Timo Werner’s strike incorrectly ruled out for offside after Hakim Ziyech had already hit the back of the net.

But Nuno was encouraging with his Tottenham players, and told them to start playing with more confidence.

Gollini said: “This is what we said at half-time. Mister [Nuno] was very good.

“He said I want you guys to keep playing with confidence, I want you to play – we are not training. We are building something, it’s not easy. Not everything is going to come so soon and so quickly. We need time to learn together, there are new players coming in and it’s a new way to play, so there are a lot of things going on.

“Like Mister say, it’s a process. We know we are building something.”

Strong comeback

Nuno’s words may not have inspired Tottenham initially as they fell 2-0 down early on in the second period when Ziyech scored again.

At that stage Spurs had been thoroughly outplayed, but they finished strongly.

Tottenham managed to come back through goals from Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, as they avoided defeat.

Gollini also put in a very strong debut in goal, as he impressed in his first appearance back in English football.

And with Hugo Lloris out injured it may be that the Spurs new boy is backed to start at Manchester City on opening day.
