Tony Cascarino spoke on TalkSport this week about West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen and the pundit has compared him to Liverpool’s Mo Salah.

Bowen, who joined the Hammers in January 2020, has been incredible for them. He has played 80 times in all competitions for the Irons and has been directly involved in 34 goals. That’s not a record that would blow your mind, but his numbers this season might.

The 25-year-old already has five goals and 10 assists to his name in all competitions. That is a phenomenal record and it is no surprise that a few top clubs are keeping an eye on him.

Cascarino seems to be a big fan of him as well and he believes that Bowen is a bit like the current best player in the world, Mo Salah.

Tony Cascarino: Jarrod Bowen is a bit like Mo Salah

The ex-Chelsea man said about Bowen: “He had an amazing goal record at Hull City before West Ham bought him. It was something like 50-odd goals in 120 appearances. That’s not bad for someone who is not a natural centre forward.

“He’s direct and he’s a bit like Salah where he always seems to get a chance in a game and will run at people and play in different positions. He has great energy. He will help his full-back out all the time. He’s come on leaps and bounds and you have to give David Moyes credit for that. He’s stayed with him.

“Benrahma is more skilful on the other side, he’s got loads of tricks in his armoury. Bowen is more predictable but very effective. He will always outscore Benrahma.”

Bowen is an exceptional footballer. He has been one of West Ham’s best players since he joined the club and there’s every chance he’ll be a big target to a number of top clubs in the Premier League.

The Englishman is a bit like Salah with respect to his position and the way he tries to take people on. However, the Liverpool superstar is on a completely different level, especially since the start of this season.

Jurgen Klopp, Fernando Torres and the Egyptian himself believe that Salah is the ‘best player in the world’ right now. If Bowen gets even close to how good the Liverpool man is, he will get a move to one of the biggest clubs in the country and end up having a fine career.
