Jan Vertonghen left the Johan Cruyff Arena after Tottenham’s dramatic 3-2 Champions League semi-final win over Ajax last night on crutches, according to Belgian outlet HLN.
Vertonghen went into the match against his former club nursing the facial injury that forced him off early in last week’s first leg, with concussion.
He wore a mask last night to protect it but looks to have suffered another injury after limping away after a match that saw Spurs book their place in the Madrid showpiece final on June 1 thanks to a late goal from Lucas Moura, completing his hat-trick.
He also had a protective boot on his right foot, and it remains to be seen whether he is fit to face Liverpool next month.

Vertonghen, who earns £100,000 at Spurs according to Spotrac, showed his bravery last night by battling back from injury as soon as possible to play.
That means if there is any chance he can get back and play against Liverpool, he will do everything in his power to make it happen.
The extent of the injury isn’t known yet, but if Vertonghen is ruled out for the final, it would of course be a major blow for Spurs, given how reliable a performer he is.
The Belgian could have actually won the tie before Moura did when he had two attempts cleared off the line, and netted in the last 16 match against Borussia Dortmund, during a first leg Tottenham won 3-0.
