Jan Vertonghen is winning his battle to be fit for the Champions League final against Liverpool on June 1, according to the Daily Mail.
They report that the Belgian international ramped up his rehabilitation by taking part in a training session with the rest of the side on Wednesday – which fellow crocked stars Davinson Sanchez and Harry Kane also did.
And the defender is rated at 60/40 in the report to be able to play in Madrid, having not played since sustaining an injury in the dramatic semi-final second leg win over his old club Ajax.
Spurs are likely to need one of Sanchez or Vertonghen to partner Toby Alderweireld as they look to combat the might of Liverpool’s front three.

And Vertonghen, who earns £100,000 a week in north London (Spotrac) – is by far the more experienced option and the man Mauricio Pochettino would likely choose if he could only have one.
The fact that Vertonghen has been named in Belgium manager Roberto Martinez’s squad for the matches against Kazakhstan and Scotland on the 8th and 11th June respectively is also cited as a positive sign.
The extended break between the end of the domestic season and the final doesn’t make much sense – but it has certainly helped Tottenham battle against the impact of the injury and fatigue that has dogged their whole season.
