Vertonghen reacts on Twitter after Rob Holding gets sent off

Jan Vertonghen posted a wordless tweet after Rob Holding was sent off during the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on Thursday.

Spurs enjoyed the ideal first-half in their must-win game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They were actually under a bit of pressure in the early stages of the contest.

But Tottenham went into the break in a fantastic position. Cedric Soares gave away a penalty for a clumsy foul on Son Heung-min. Harry Kane comfortably tucked the ball into the corner, sending Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way.

And Kane was there to double the lead late on in the first-half as he dived in at the far post to head home and send the atmosphere in the stadium to another incredible level.

But Arsenal did not help themselves. The foul from Cedric looked to be needless. But the right-back was nowhere near as bad as Holding.

The centre-back kept his place with Ben White presumably not quite fit enough to complete 90 minutes. He was booked after a couple of clashes with Son.

And the second yellow came just after the half-hour mark. The centre-back needlessly blocked Son getting on the end of a long ball. Unsurprisingly, the referee Paul Tierney had no doubts that the Arsenal man deserved another yellow.

It was a poor piece of discipline from the 26-year-old. But clearly, Tottenham will not have minded one bit.

Certainly, Vertonghen was keen to mock his former rivals on social media. The Belgian was quick to take to Twitter to react to the red card.

Here is what Vertonghen posted after Holding was shown a red card…
