A number of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to praise Anfield newcomer Diogo Jota for his cameo in Portugal’s friendly with Spain on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Reds from Wolves for £41million in September, came on in the 79th minute for Francisco Trincao at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Playing in his natural left-sided role, Jota looked sharp and produced a superb bit of skill in stoppage time, receiving the ball with his back to goal and nutmegging Diego Llorente with a flick.

The Liverpool forward then charged towards the penalty area and saw his effort blocked by Sergio Ramos, resulting in a corner which nearly saw Portugal score a late winner.

In the end, the friendly finished goalless, and even though he featured for just over 10 minutes, some Reds supporters were pleased with what they saw from their new signing:

Jota has done well for Liverpool so far, making four appearances and scoring once, in the 3-1 win over Arsenal.

Up next for Portugal is Sunday’s UEFA Nations League meeting with world champions France in Paris’ Stade de France.
