‘Up there with the likes of Cahill’: Some Everton fans blown away by 22-year-old

A number of Everton fans have taken to Twitter to praise Richarlison’s comments about his hopes and ambitions at Goodison Park under new head coach Carlo Ancelotti, in conversation with the Toffees media team.

Ancelotti was appointed as Marco Silva’s permanent successor at Everton on 21 December and, following on from Duncan Ferguson’s impressive interim spell, has helped turned the Toffees’ fortunes around further.

When Everton parted company with Silva, the Goodison Park side was battling Premier League relegation amid far too many sub-par displays, but now they are 11th in a highly-congested table, just four points off the top six.

The feelgood factor is now back at Goodison Park and Richarlison, who joined Everton in the summer of 2018, gave an interview to the Toffees media team in which he spoke of playing the best football of his career so far, the improvements he has made, and what he has told Ancelotti.

Richarlison also spoke of how important it is to stay grounded and humble, telling the Everton website: “I also want to continue being the same person, someone who likes to have a laugh and joke but is also modest and humble.

“The people around me are the same as me: humble people who like a joke. That is why I like to have them close. They never forget where we came from. They would tell me if I was changing, definitely. I want my career trajectory to continue in the same upwards direction – but to never change as a person.”

Richarlison’s comments, like those of Ancelotti in which he professed his desire to stay at the club long-term and achieve great things, was music to the Everton fans’ ears, and some took to social media to rejoice.
