A number of Leeds United fans have waxed lyrical about Lewis Bate’s display for the Whites Under-21s on Tuesday night.
Leeds were in Papa John’s Trophy action away at Oldham and came away with an impressive 3-2 win.
Mark Jackson was able to call on more senior players this time round, compared to their 4-1 competition-opening defeat to Tranmere.

And Leeds’ youngsters impressed at Boundary Park, taking the lead on 42 minutes through Crysencio Summerville’s penalty.
The visitors then doubled their lead just before the hour, Sean McGurk forcing an own goal from Latics skipper Harrison McGahey.
Oldham then pulled one back through Zak, but Leeds soon reinstated their two-goal lead.
McGurk saw his effort saved and deflected off Kyle Jameson into the hosts’ net on 80 minutes.
Davis Keilor-Dunn struck deep into injury time, but Leeds hung on for a 3-2 victory.

Bate, who joined the Thorp Arch setup from Chelsea in the summer, once again impressed for the Yorkshire outfit.
Indeed, calls for him to be included in one of Marcelo Bielsa’s squads are growing ever louder.
“Great intensity throughout and a good buffer for his defensive teammates, Bate performed a typically predictable tempo-dictating role in front of the centre-backs,” wrote Leeds Live, who gave him 8 out of 10.
“A few speculative passes came off; others didn’t, but the endeavour was present. Never dispossessed in dangerous areas and alert to danger in his zone.”
