Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left disappointed with the latest update on Marcel Sabitzer.

Tottenham have been long-standing admirers of the RB Leipzig midfielder.

However, Sabitzer is now said to be close to making a decision over his future, and it seems that Spurs are no longer in the running at crunch stage.

BILD say that the three sides pushing for the Austrian are Arsenal, AC Milan and Roma.

And Tottenham supporters have been left frustrated that the club seem to have backed away from their target.

Mourinho target?

The update suggests that Sabitzer may have been a Jose Mourinho target, rather than one flagged up by their scouting team.

Roma are said to be interested in Sabitzer, which would add further legitimacy to this theory.

Tottenham fans are entitled to feel frustrated if they are no longer in the running for Sabitzer, though.

There is no doubting he would have added quality to their squad if he had joined.

But Spurs may have other priorities rather than adding another player in an area where they already have plenty of options.
